Get to know your comic book guys!

Hey guys, I am a firm believer that a healthy forum is a happy forum! So, we should all get to know each other a little better.

I'm Suzi and I'm 23 years old. I've been reading comics since I was a little girl, used to sneak into my best friends stash when he was asleep or outside playing and read all the X-men I could get my hands on. Now a days, I've been reading a lot of Zombie Comics, I'm a big fan of Zombies. The Marvel Zombies are my favorite, but the Walking Dead books are good too.

I'm working in child care right now, and I hate it, there are much more fun things that I'd rather be wasting my time with than that nonsense.

I have two dogs, and I'm going to school very part time and I live in West Bloomfield with my sister. Anything else you want to know, just ask!

I've never read The Walking Dead series, but I keep wanting too. Whenever I go into a book store I always flirt with the idea of picking up the trades, but then I get distracted by something shiny and I loose my train of thought. I always hear great things about it thou. One of these days *shakes fist*

Personally, if I had to pick a superhero to be, I think it would be Iron Man! Or maybe the Green Lantern. Yeah...one of them. Although, Wolverine always seems to hang around hot chicks.

Bill, you should definitely pick them up! I've bought the First Volume of the trade paperback and read that and it was fantastic.. but then I ran out of money, and had to borrow the second one, and then I never got any farther than that.. but the first two were just fantastic.

If I could pick my superhero.. I dunno.. I think my favorite superhero has always been Rogue, but would I want to be Rogue? I don't think so.. I like to touch people wayyy too much to have her powers. But.. I guess I'll stick with X-men and if I could be any superhero, I'd be Storm, because she's a badass and she's super powerful and.. she could make the snow go away if I was cold. ^^

BUT... After watching the "Watchmen" movie in silver cinema, I am now thinking my new favorite comic book character EVER is Rorschach. I am quite disturbed at this discovery because he is, in fact, D.C. So I am finally forced to admit that D.C. has more for me than just Batman.

My name is Adam, I have always loved comic books, my favorites as a kid have been the x-men, iron man, and war machine. I really love video games too, and music, pretty much any form of media where people can express themselves, which is why I want to be a writer.

hes just one of my favs, I like iron man, war machine, the x-men, mostly marvel stuff, but i like the green lantern and the flash too.

Certainly nothing wrong with any of those. Wolverine used to be my favorite, but then I saw Rorschach from The Watchmen... First DC title since Batman that I liked so much!

So what are some of your favorite metal bands? Are you a Guns 'N' Roses nut like Bill?

yeah watchmen was an amazing comic, i first heard about it cuz Im a huge zack snyder fan, the director, i loved when he did the dawn of the dead remake and 300, so I looked up what he was doing next and saw he was doing that and then picked up a copy of it and i loved it ever since.

And im not big into classic rock, but some metal bands i like are parkway drive, bring me the horizon.

Yeah, I defnitely got a "Dawn of the Dead" vibe from that one prison scene in Watchmen. That director's got an ovractive bloodlust! But it happened to fit the character of Rorschach quite well in this case.

I've actually never heard of either of those bands... though nowadays that's not surprising. I'm out of the loop. (I'm prettymuch Christ-core these days.) One extrememly secular band I'm looking to get into is Ill Nino. I heard they have a latin flair in their music and I've been wanting to get into some Solamente. (Solamente means "metal" in Spanish) But I've also heard that they talk about wanting to kill whores, so... I'm still looking out for other solamente bands!

My favorite (since before I knew there was a name for the genre) has been Nonpoint. VERY good Spanish metal band. I would recommend purchase to anyone. They do a couple songs each album with all-Spanish lyrics, but I like that they do most of it in English so I can still understand it!

I'm Thomas from North California. I am a landscaper but aspire to be a comic professional. I am an old 80's punk rocker but have since been into jazz. So the first time I read the Watchmen was in 87 when it came out. I've been a fan of Alan Moore since 85 when I read the Swamp Thing #41 and have read almost everything he's written since.
I started reading comics in the 80's with Marvel. I was never much into the campy Superman and Batman, but I loved Crisis on Infinite Earth when it came out. I'm somewhat of a comics history enthusiast and have read and loved most eras of comics, but mostly Super Heroes. I love the pre WWII super heroes like the Spectre, Dr. Fate, Sub-mariner, and Captain America. There can be really imaginative and vicious. Has anyone ever read the early Joker stories like in Batman #1? Great stuff!
